The Story of Simio

At Simio LLC, we understand the importance of optimized facilities, processes, and systems to increasing productivity and adding value. We understand the benefits enterprises gain from receiving insights into complex processes and how it drives growth. This is why we focus on the application of digital transformative technologies to simplify complex systems and processes. Our mission is to help everyone meet their organizational and educational goals using our digital twin platform, simulation and scheduling software and learning tools.

Our Founding

Simio was founded by C. Dennis Pegden, PHD., in (2000*). C. Dennis Pegden, Ph.D. has over 30 years of experience in simulation and scheduling and has been widely recognized as an industry leader. He developed SLAM and then founded Systems Modeling Corporation, now part of Rockwell Automation. Dr.Pegden led the creation of the market-leading simulation products SIMAN® and Arena®, as well as the finite capacity scheduling product Tempo, later renamed RS Scheduler.
The company was established to deliver leading edge solutions for the design, emulation, and scheduling of complex systems. The name Simio comes from SImulation Modeling framework based on Intelligent Objects.
From our humble beginnings, Simio now holds 2 patents on our products namely: A System and Method for Creating Intelligent Simulation Objects using Graphical Process Descriptions (Patent NO. 8,156,468 C1) and Simulation-Based Risk Analysis for Finite Capacity Scheduling (Patent No. 8,682,707 B2).  Simio’s global network of partners is currently in more than 28 countries and our software is used as an educational tool in 800 universities spread across the globe.

A New Phase

Our mission to provide organizations with agile tools for their digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives led to the release of a suite of tools on the Simio software. The features of this suite of tools include the ability to create models of production processes, interact with manufacturing planning systems, edge computing devices, IoT devices, and optimize schedules.
These tools support the creation of a Digital Twin of all the physical elements or assets involved in an operation. With the Simio Digital Twin Software, enterprises gain visibility into complex operations and receive the data-driven insight needed to develop optimized strategies and make accurate decisions.

Simio and You

We developed the Simio software to assist your organization with optimizing its operational processes by making better decisions through the insights a digital twin provides. This is why governments, Fortune 500 enterprises, and SMEs rely on the simulation, scheduling, planning, and analytical support Simio offers.

Simio provides best-in-class digital twin software for industries that integrate process and/or discrete manufacturing across their facilities. This includes manufacturers within the:

  • Healthcare and Medical Technology Industry
  • Manufacturing Industry
  • Mining and Drilling Industry
  • Ports and Maritime Industry
  • Defense Industry and
  • The Transportation Industry

The application of Simio Digital Twin software provides visibility into the complex operations within these industries. With Simio you gain visibility into your supply chains, production schedules, inventory, and every other operation within your facility. This helps you:

Make Better Decisions

A Digital Twin provides an accurate model of system behavior and the relationships between entities in a system. These models can be used for decision-making, documentation and performance improvement purposes. Simio Object-Based Modeling allows easy mimicking of real-life objects and processes.

Conduct Real-Time Risk Analysis

Scheduling is made easy with accurate modeling of systems, including their inherent constraints and variations. This allows planning and management of uncertainty, enabling risks to be mitigated and targets met.

Solve Complex Problems

Simio can be used to find the best solutions through optimization using the OptQuest add-in. Powerful algorithms and sophisticated analysis techniques are applied to devise and investigate scenarios that can then be used to pinpoint the best decision.

Simio and Industry 4.0

Simio next-generation software enables you to take advantage of the interconnectivity and automation Industry 4.0 offers by providing visibility into individual processes and the connected whole. Our digital twin software ensures you can create accurate digital representations of your facilities and have access to powerful algorithms that analyze the data from your industrial IoT devices and production workflows.
Simio also provides illuminating visualizations into the entire industrial process that show cause and effect relationships which are important to making business decisions in real-time. With the Simio Digital Twin software, you can enhance your Industry 4.0 business models by:

  • Analyzing capacity plans
  • Remotely monitoring operations
  • Receiving visibility into interconnected systems
  • Simulating production scenarios
  • Improving production schedules
